Rubber
The largest of the three crops, and entirely for export
Rubber is the crop CDC has the most of. It covers 22,262 hectares of the corporation's planted area, more than oil palm and banana combined, and all of it is processed into semi-finished rubber for buyers outside Cameroon.
The latex leaves the estates and is worked into four grades: CNR 10, 3L, 3CV and RSS. Three factories at Tiko, Mukonje and Penda Mboko handle the bulk of it, with two dedicated sheet factories at Meanja and Malende.
Annual output runs between 18,000 and 20,000 tons. A rubber tree takes about six years from planting before the first tapping, which is why the expansion projects launched in 2007 and 2011 are only now reaching maturity.
